The E-Waste Scholarship is Now Open for Entries
April 30th

Digital Responsibility is granting one winner a $1,500 grand prize and one runner-up a $500 scholarship through their E-Waste Scholarship. Each year e-waste around the globe increases by 20 to 50 million tons putting toxic waste into our ground and groundwater supply. To promote awareness and understanding of the impact that this e-waste can potentially cause, Digital Responsibility is hosting their essay scholarship contest.

College or graduate students of any level are eligible to apply for this scholarship as long as they are US citizens or residents. The contest entry form must be completed and submitted along with a 140 character statement about e-waste. The original entry form must be submitted by April 30, to coincide with Earth Day.

Based upon the statement, ten finalists will be chosen. Those top ten finalists will then be required to write a 500-1,000 word essay on e-waste. The final essays will then be evaluated based upon content and creativity, the final winner and runner up will then be chosen.

If you’re wondering what it means to be digitally responsible, Digital Responsibility defines it as the following: “We believe that it’s our responsibility to use technology in a way that doesn’t harm others and to be aware of the impact that technology has on our health, environment, and society at large.” Keeping this in mind might help when writing your statement.

If you’re interested in the E-Waste Scholarship make sure you enter now before the deadline!
