How would you like to start off the new year with an extra $500? If that sounds great then start writing an essay and enter this contest! Southwestern Rugs Depot is hosting a scholarship that gives you the chance to win a $500 scholarship.

To enter, you must simply write a 300 word essay answering the question:

“Why Décor Matters”

Your essay should address “a time decor mattered in your life, why it matters in your life / society / history / philosophy / physics / anything.” All essays must be submitted before January 2nd, one winner will be granted the award on January 31st. The winning essay will be based upon the quality of writing within the essay and originality. The submitted essay must not be previously published, and by entering this contest you’re authorizing Southwestern Rugs Depot the rights to publish your work.

To be eligible for this scholarship you can be from any country around the world, however, you must be a full or part time student inside the United States during the 2016-2017 school year. View more information on this scholarship and if you’re eligible to apply before the January 2nd deadline.

Southwestern Rugs Depot is located in the Southwestern region of the US where they handcraft all their rugs. Their rugs are certified CRI Green Label Plus and since 1999 they’ve sent zero waste to landfills.

DirectTextbook.com “Shine” Photo Essay Contest

If you’re a US citizen planning to study abroad in the Winter or Spring 2017 semester, make sure you apply for this scholarship! Eligible students have the chance to one of six $500 scholarships. The scholarships will be awarded based on the following:

Two $500.00 scholarships: photos selected by Direct Textbook.
Two $500.00 scholarships: photos with the most votes.
Two $500.00 scholarships: photos selected at random from all qualifying entries.

To enter you must submit a photo that captures the “Shine” theme along with information about yourself. Entrants also have the option to submit a brief description of their photo in 25 words or less. This contest is open for entries until January 16th. Once the contest is closed all entries will be reviewed- each winner will be notified through email on or before January 30th.

To be eligible for this contest you must meet the following:

  • You are a high school graduate.
  • You are currently enrolled in an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university for Winter or Spring term 2017 (includes graduate and doctoral students).
  • You are a legal resident of the United States.
  • You are not currently incarcerated.
  • Your most recent GPA is 2.0 or above.
