Calling all women around the world who are interested in the field of aerospace-related sciences or aerospace-related engineering! The Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship Program is now open for applications. Each year 35 individuals are awarded this fellowship grant in the amount of $10,000 to pursue the study of aerospace.

To be eligible, applicants must have a record of academic excellence and be pursuing a doctoral/Ph.D. degree- post doctoral women are not eligible. Those who are current fellows are able to re-apply for the fellowship, however, they must proceed through a new application process.

The fellowship committee will review each application and recommend a select few finalists to the Zonta International Board of Directors who will then determine the fellowship awardees. Applications must be postmarked by November 15 and applicants will be notified of their status in April.

The Amelia Earhart Fellowship was established in 1938 by the Zonta International Foundation in honor of Amelia Earhart, it has since awarded 1,403 students this fellowship equaling a total of $8.3 million.

International Academic Merit Scholarship

Students pursuing their bachelor degree as a first year international student are eligible for the international academic merit scholarship at Wilson College. Upon admission into Wilson College, eligible international students will be awarded the scholarship. There is not a specific application for this award; however, students must complete the Wilson College paper or online admissions application, along with a statement of finance- and be accepted into the college.

While this award is not a full-scholarship, this merit award has the potential to grant international students aid for up to 25%-50% of their tuition. Wilson College will review and evaluate past academic achievement of the individual under consideration. There is not a required field of study that individuals must be pursuing in order to receive this award, nor is there a specific home country that they should be from. There are approximately 10 awards granted each year in amounts varying from $5000-$15,000.

Wilson College is a Presbyterian-affiliated, liberal arts school located in Pennsylvania. At this all-women college, there is a strong focus on providing students with the one-on-one attention they need with a 10:1 student-ratio.

Rolex Scholarship

There are three Rolex Scholarships granted each year: one in North America, one in Europe and one in Australia. Each year the Rolex Scholarship award amount increases and it is now up to $25,000 for the North American award, £16,000 for the European award and AUS $30,000 for the Australian award! This award is open to individuals interested in a career in an underwater related discipline, with this scholarship they will not only receive the cash award, but also training from skilled leaders in the industry. The winning scholar will explore the underwater world in their region, but will also venture to other regions of the world as well. For one year the individual will be on the road, traveling extensively to the next expedition, the itinerary and scheduling of these trips will be organized by a coordinator.

Experience gained during the Rolex Scholarship underwater research will include: scientific expeditions, laboratory assignments, underwater research, scientific expeditions, equipment testing and design, photographic instruction and other specialized assignments.

Bird-X Generation Green Essay Contest Scholarship

Bird-X is now hosting an essay contest for one individual to win the grand prize of $1000 toward their college education. To win, international students must share what effort they are making to live life more environmentally friendly. The essay must be 500 words or less and must address how they are living life greener, reducing their carbon foot print and minimizing their consumption/waste.

The Bird-X creative department will determine the top 5 essays which will be posted on the Bird-X website. International students who apply can share the post with friends and family via social media networks like Facebook and Twitter to gain points toward winner consideration.

Those who enter to win the Bird-X generation green essay contest scholarship can also submit a photo of a pest bird in action to win the photo bonus award. The two top photo winners will win $200. All winners will be announced August 2nd.

To apply, the following rules must be followed:

  • All material submitted must be original
  • Individuals may only enter once
  • A photo is not required to enter the essay contest
  • An essay is required to enter the photo contest

Staton Scholarship

IMD is a top-ranked business school that offers programs and services around the world. They are currently offering the Staton Scholarship which will grant one eligible candidate $50,000 toward their studies. Students from the following countries in South America are able to apply: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Fr. Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.

To qualify for this scholarship students must also have applied to the full-time IMD MBA program and agree to return to South America for at least three years after graduation. Eligible students who wish to apply for this award must complete and submit the IMD financial aid application by the deadline along with the following:

  • Proof of salary from a current employer
  • Latest tax return
  • Latest statement from all bank accounts

Those who receive the Staton Scholarships and do not comply with the award agreement terms- including returning to South Africa for at least three years after graduation- will be required to utilize the award as a loan.

Stella Blum Research Grant

The Costume Society of America promotes the research and understanding of dress and appearance around the globe- throughout time. Each year the society hosts the annual Stella Blum research grant to promote and encourage research based around dress by granting one individual financial assistance to be used towards research in this field. Individuals around the world, including international students, who meet the following are able to apply for the Stella Blum research grant:

  1. Are enrolled in a degree program at an accredited institution
  2. Is a good standing member of the Costume Society
  3. Is applying for the grant to perform research projects in the field of North American costume

This award is granted in an amount up to $2,500 and can only be used for project support. Submitted entries will be judged by a panel of five individuals who will evaluate the following five areas:

  • Creativity and innovation
  • Attention to costume matters
  • Impact the research will have within the field
  • Awareness of the interdisciplinary nature of the field
  • Ability to carry out the research in a timely manner
  • Faculty advisor recommendations toward the international student

University Language Services Scholarship

The time has come to enter the fifth round of the University Language Services scholarship. This means you have the chance to win $500 for a great photo. If you are a college student who is studying abroad currently, has in the past or will be in the near future- you can submit a photo that shares what made you decide to study abroad. It can be anything that expresses this- food, architecture, a landmark, etc.

Your submitted photo for the university language services scholarship will need to be accompanied with a 200 word or less description of why the subject in your photo helped you decide to study abroad. Entries need to be submitted by April 3. Once submitted, the top eight submissions will be posted for site visitors to vote on. The three photos with the top votes will continue to the finalist round where a panel of judges will determine the grand prize winner of $500.

Elite Awards

Troy University offers international students with exceptionally high academic achievement the chance to receive one of two elite awards. Four first year undergraduate students from around the world are granted one of these awards each semester. Additionally, these awards are able to be renewed each year that the student continues to attend Troy University and maintain their award eligibility. Awardees must have the intent to obtain at least a four year degree from Troy University.

Elite Awards Available:

The Millennium Scholar Award- this award requires that students have an ACT score of 31 or SAT score of 1380 along with a high school GPA of 3.7 (on a 4.0 scale). It will fully cover tuition, room and board for the first year.

The Chancellor Award- this award will grant the awardee full tuition and requires that the student have an ACT score of 27 or SAT score of 1220 along with a high school GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale).

Belluck & Fox law firm and Mesotheliomahelp.net have come together to provide ten students studying inside the US with a scholarship to help fund their education. The Belluck & Fox and Mesotheliomahelp.net scholarship has been created to help raise awareness for Mesothelioma and its cure. Students at a college or university can apply for this award by completing the application form and submitting it along with an essay based on one of the following topics:

  • A personal, mesothelioma survivor story
  • History of asbestos use in the United States within the manufacturing industry
  • The latest developments in the treatment of mesothelioma

The final essay must be posted to either a university blog or website, or it can be posted on a personal blog or website by the submission deadline. Essays will be judged by the partners of Belluck & Fox, LLP. Judges will be looking at content along with style, grammar, originality, articulation and clarity.

The first place winner will be awarded $5,000; second place will receive $2,500; third place will receive $1,250; fourth place will receive $500; fifth place will receive $250; there will be five honorable mentions named, each of which will receive a $100 award.

IMD in Switzerland is now offering one $50,000 scholarship to an international student from South America studying at IMD: the Staton Scholarship.

Students from the following countries in South America are able to apply for the Staton Scholarship after they have applied to become a full-time student in the IMD MBA program: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Fr. Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela. Candidates for this award must agree to return to South America for at least three years after graduation. If this condition is not met, the award is then converted into a loan.

Along with the application into the MBA program, students must also submit a 750 word essay based upon the role of entrepreneurship in moving your country forward and your contribution to that goal. The essay submitted for this award will be judged based upon the following:

  • Relevance to the essay title
  • Organization and structure
  • Fully developed arguments
  • Persuasiveness
  • Personal element and/or passion
